But the general consensus is that it is a blend of four different Single Malts and a smaller part of grain Whiskies. This is also an NAS Whisky (Non-Age Statement) — this is fairly common in blends. But based upon the aromas and flavors, we are going to guess it’s relatively youthful… perhaps three to five years. But you taste for yourself. It was distilled using a Coffey still (aka patent still). The founder, \u003cstrong\u003e\u003cem\u003eMasataka Taketsuru \u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003eimported a Coffey still from Scotland back in 1963, because he desired a grain Spirits \u003cstrong\u003e\u003cem\u003ehigh in alcohol\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e content, but also one that \u003cstrong\u003e\u003cem\u003eretains the character\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e of the grain, its flavors and aromas.\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\u003cbr\u003e\r\nThe newer, more widely used, types of continuous stills \u003cstrong\u003e\u003cem\u003estripped the Spirit\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e of too much flavor. The Coffey still is \u003cstrong\u003e\u003cem\u003enotoriously difficult\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e to operate, but it does produce Whisky with a more characterful spirit. This unconventional Whisky is NOT for everyone. It’s for those who appreciate the different.
